A funeral service for former President Jimmy Carter will be held in Washington, D.C., Thursday, Jan. 9.

Residents across the U.S. were encourage to observe a day of mourning today for Carter, who died in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, on Dec. 29 at the age of 100.

The day brings a few closures, although since it’s not a federal holiday, banks and businesses should be open as usual.

U.S. stock markets will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9.

The NYSE and Nasdaq traditionally close for the funerals of former presidents.

Bond markets will be open, but for reduced hours, closing early at 2 p.m. ET, according to a recommendation from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.

How to watch Jimmy Carter’s funeral

Carter’s remains will be taken to the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The funeral service will be broadcast across both network and cable television, including CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN and Fox News.

Spanish broadcasts will be available on Telemundo and Univision.
